Azeka Mall Maui

Azeka Mall is located in central Kihei along South Kihei Road between Pi’ikea St. and Lipoa Street. The strip mall has a presence both on the ocean side (makai) of South Kihei Road, and also the mountain side (Mauka).  You would be surprised how many great dining options are located here!  While we highly recommend exploring the whole island, you could easily just head to Azeka Mall each night for dinner and have a great time!  Here is our list of top 10 dining options found in the mall.

  1. Nalus – This open air, order-at-the-counter restaurant has quickly become one of the local favorites on the south side of Maui. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you really can’t go wrong with any menu selection. Often times there is live music at night and don’t be alarmed if you see a wild chicken or two walking around in and out of the restaurant. This is just part of the Maui ambiance!

  1. Fork and Salad – You don’t have to be a vegetarian or health nut to enjoy Fork and Salad. Guests choose to create their own salad or sandwich from a list of countless locally grown vegetables, fruits, and ingredients. There is even a kids menu that can pair a quesadilla or grilled cheese sandwich with a fruit bowl that the kids will love!

  1. Coconuts – The original location for this “best fish tacos on Maui” restaurant is still consistently getting lines out their door. The fun atmosphere, surf board shaped tables, and awesome seafood menu items combine to create a great dining experience the whole family will enjoy. This success has paved the way for franchises on the mainland to start springing up, as well as a larger dining location (about three times the size) to open up in south Kihei.

  1. Shearwater Tavern – This may be one of the best happy hour deals in Kihei! All of their appetizers are half off! Choose from pizzas, spinach dip, nachos, brusselsprouts, and other impressive menu items and sit at the bar with other locals that know about this deal!

  1. Wow Wow Lemonade – If you like acai bowls, then look no further! Besides ordering bowls with local fruits and ingredients, you can also order custom lemonades served in a mason jar that you can take home with you.  Even if you aren’t a big lemonade fan, with flavors like watermelon lemonade, you are bound to find something you like!

  1. Maui Pie – One of the best two pie places on Maui (Leoda’s in Oluwalu being the other)! But not all the pies are only for those with a sweet tooth.  They make a savory chicken pot pie that is pretty tasty and quite a meal for just one person to finish.

  1. Peggy Sues – Sometimes nothing beats a burger, shake, and fries. Peggy Sues is a cute diner that looks like it came off the set of Grease.  Find your favorite rock-n-roll song on the juke box and chow down on a juicy burger.  One day of the month there is even a group of classic car owners that park their hot rods out front!

  1. Nutcharee’s Thai Food – Honestly this is my favorite pick on this list. All the locals know that this is the place to go if you want some tasty thai food. Everything on their menu is good, but there are a few items highlighted on their menu that are sure to impress.  The mango fish salad is a must, and how can you not be interested in trying the pumpkin curry?

  1. Miso Phat – It’s sushi folks! Because the restaurant is located a couple blocks from the Pacific Ocean, you can bet they have some great seafood ingredients at their disposal. With such a fun name, you might want to pick up a t-shirt too!  Just be sure to make reservations, as seating is rather limited and space can book up quickly.

  1. Roasted Chiles – If you are craving Mexican food, than Roasted Chiles has you covered! Whether you want a burrito smothered in red sauce or enchiladas steaming on a cast iron plate, you are bound to have a full stomach after eating at Roasted Chiles!

BONUS OPTION:  There is a permanent food tuck area right behind the back left corner of Azeka Mall (Mauka), behind Shearwater Tavern an d Fork and Salad.  If the family is having a hard time reaching a decision on where to eat, just head to the food truck area and let everyone pick which food truck they find most interesting!
