Looking for some cheap entertainment on Maui after spending a few bucks on a zipline tour, whale watch, Hawaiian luau, helicopter tour, fancy dinner, etc.?  We have assembled a list of five great ways to have some fun in Kihei for just $10!  Let us know what you think!

  • Rent a Snorkel Set: There are countless snorkel rental stores in Kihei, but some of the more popular ones are Snorkel Bobs, Boss Frogs, Maui Dive Shop, and the Snorkel Store.  You should be able to score a day’s rental of fins, mask, and snorkel for under $10.  Ask the rental shop for some good recommendations on places to snorkel.  Ulua Beach in Wailea is always a great default if you don’t want to drive too far around the island.  Ulua Beach has been the home for Scuba certification classes for years.
  • Rent a Surfboard: There are various places you can rent a surfboard near Cove Park (a beginner surfing beach).  You can rent a board for an hour for $12 or keep it for four hours for $20.  If you and your friend both chip in $10, you could each have two hours on the board to test your skills in the waves.  Cove Park is a great place to learn, as this is a well-known beginner beach.  You could be hanging 10 in Hawaii for just $10!
  • Get a Fully Loaded Shave Ice at Ululani’s: There is shave ice and then there is Ululani’s. You will want to make sure you try one of these local treats here on Maui before this brand becomes franchised all over the world. It is not uncommon to see long lines, but this cold dessert is worth the wait.  Pick from tropical flavors and even choose to have ice cream at the bottom, a coconut glaze (snow cap) poured on top, and coconut flakes carved on top.  The ice is so finely cut it will melt in your mouth like cotton candy.
  • Order Waffles Soaked in Tropical Fruits: How does a waffle breakfast (where the waffles are made from left over ice cream cone batter) sound? To sweeten the pot (literally) the waffles are topped with your choice of fruits, whipped cream, and maple syrup.  To find this breakfast treat, head over to Maui Gelato located in Dolphin Plaza.  Take a camera with you so you can share a picture of the amazing breakfast with all your friends.
  • Sample Some Local Beers: Head to the Maui Brewing Company headquarters at the top of Lipoa Street (past Maui Nui Golf Course).  Take some time to review the wall of beers offered and then make a unique selection.  New beer recipes are frequently rotated in that include ingredients like lemon grass, pineapple, POG (passion-orange-guava), coffee, coconut, and so much more!  Often times there are live musicians and daily food trucks provide different eating options.  Games such as bean bag toss, life-sized jenga, and connect four are also available for patrons. And for those that don’t want a beer, there is a killer root beer that Maui Brewing Company makes!
