Kihei Salad Option

For those that visit Maui year after year, we have assembled this list of new places to try on your next visit!  Or, if this is your first time vacationing on Maui, you will still enjoy learning about these how spots that all the locals are flocking to.

Akamai Coffee Roasters – This coffee stop’s original location was a portable drive-through stand in the parking lot of Home Depot.  Now there is a brand new storefront location in Kihei along South Kihei Road between Lipoa Street and Pi’ikea Street.  Sample coffee that is 100% grown and brewed on Maui and relax in a cool coffee-shop setting!

Fork and Salad – Everyone seems to be rushing over to this new restaurant that opened up at the old Stella Blues location in the Azeka Mauka Mall. Opened by the owners of Three’s Bar and Grill, this eatery follows the “farm to table” craze and creates a build-your-own healthy eating option.  Customers can create their own salad from a list of countless ingredients or pick from a selection of chef-crafted items.

Maui Pie – I believe Maui Pie has been around for almost a year now.  Swing by and pick up a locally made pie by master pie crafters.  You can purchase traditional pies such as strawberry, key lime, etc., but you can also select from locally influenced pies such as chocolate-haupia or lilikoi!  They also prepare some tasty chicken pot pies, which could be a great lunch or dinner option.  Maui Pie is located in the Azeka Mauka Shopping Center.

Tamura’s Liquors – Tamura’s has been the go-to option on Maui for finding a hard-to-get wine, beer, or liquor.  It is also know by locals as the best place to get poke on the island.  For those unfamiliar with poke, it is raw bite-sized seafood cubes mixed with other tasty ingredients.  Many people like to pick up some poke before they head to the beach.  The new Kihei store can be found on Lipoa Street between Liloa St and South Kihei Rd.

Nalu’s – Nalus has been around since June of 2015, but it is still new enough that most visitors to Maui have probably yet to experience it.  Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner this open air restaurant is highly recommended. Unique menu items like chicken and waffles or an apple-brie burger, and water mixed with strawberries, mint, and pineapple will surely bring a smile to your face.  Some nights even feature live music!  You will probably end up returning to Nalu’s after your first visit.
